Charitable Lead Trusts (CLT)
Give now through your trust—support loved ones later
A Charitable Lead Trust allows you to make immediate annual gifts to The Alexander Foundation while ultimately transferring assets to loved ones. Your generosity supports families today—and strengthens our work to educate the public about the mistreatment of people with disabilities and promote dignity, inclusion, and respect.
What is a Charitable Lead Trust (CLT)?
Charity first, heirs later. Your trust pays income to TAF for a set term; remaining assets pass to family or other beneficiaries.
Gift & estate planning tool. In certain markets, a CLT can help transfer assets efficiently to heirs while supporting charity along the way.
Flexible payment types. Annuity lead (fixed payments) or unitrust lead (percentage of annual value).
Assets you can give. Cash or marketable securities are most common; other assets may be possible with review.
- Define term & beneficiaries. Choose the payout structure and number of years.
- Fund the trust. Transfer assets; trustee invests per strategy.
- Support impact now. TAF receives payments during the trust term to fuel programs and public‑education initiatives.
- Remainder to heirs. At the end of the term, remaining assets pass to your beneficiaries.

The Alexander Foundation is being maintained and controlled by the relatives of Alex Schon. None of the volunteers or family members are paid by the foundation. This means that all of the donations, except for a very minimal amount for supplies and tax work, are going directly to the foundation.
